Media Release

The Department of Psychology requires a Media Release Form to manage permissions for using images and recordings of individuals in our community, including students (undergraduate and graduate), faculty, and staff. This process respects privacy and ensures clear consent.

Some of the uses of these images may include (but not be limited to):

  • Photo directories/rosters
  • Promotional materials
  • Website Content

Using the Release Form

  1. Complete the Department of Psychology Media Release Form with media preferences.
    1. To change an approval/denial, submit a new form.
  2. When posting images/videos in the department, refer to the Intranet Roster to see who has approved the use of their image.
    1. If an individual is not listed on the roster, contact the Office and Communication Manager to see if they completed the form.
    2. If someone has indicated "no" on the roster, coordinators are welcome to reach out to the subject directly to request the use of their media for a specific purpose.

Important Notes

  • If choosing to change approval (i.e., revoke your authorization), note that this is not retroactive. Contact the individuals managing the project to address any existing photos.
    • Any posters or displays that are made should have information on who to contact if there are any questions. (eg. “Questions: Goldy Gopher (gopher@umn.edu)”)
  • For external speakers and panelists refer to the Event Planning page for information about Tallent/Speaker Releases.
