Event Planning

Events have become more complex with the addition of virtual and hybrid options.  The Communications Manager can provide you with assistance in planning your event to ensure that you have the best event possible. Contact Amanda Schmit (amsuchy@umn.edu).

Event Development

Consider the following when developing your event:

  • Modality (e.g., in-person, hybrid, virtual)
  • Promotion (e.g., how, where, and to whom will you promote your event; what information is needed)
  • Support (e.g., what support is needed before, during, and after to ensure a successful event?)

Land Acknowledgement Statement

We recommend that the University Land Acknowledgement Statement be read before every event.

Before we begin, I first want to acknowledge that the University of Minnesota Twin Cities is built within the traditional homelands of the Dakota people. It is important to acknowledge the peoples on whose land we live, learn, and work as we seek to improve and strengthen our relations with our tribal nations. We also acknowledge that words are not enough. We must ensure that our institution provides support, resources, and programs that increase access to all aspects of higher education for our American Indian students, staff, faculty, and community members.

Talent/Speaker Release

When we record an event or take individual photos, a release form must be signed by the subject/s.

Send signed speaker and photo releases to the Communication Manager (Amanda Schmit, amsuchy@umn.edu) for archiving.
