Central Office’s Just-In-Time Loaner Pool
The Central Office Just-In-Time Loaner Pool provides immediate, short-term access to essential equipment for urgent needs. This service supports staff and faculty who require temporary equipment for same-day use.
Key Points:
- Timely, Short-Term Use: The loaner pool is intended for emergencies where equipment is needed urgently and for a very short duration.
- Same-Day Return: All borrowed equipment must be returned on the same day it is checked out.
- No Advance Checkout: Equipment cannot be checked out or reserved in advance; availability is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Process:
To see if a machine is available and check out a machine, come to the Central Office (N218 EltH) and check out a machine like a temporary key checkout.
Special Equipment Pool
Silke Moeller, academic technologist, manages instructional equipment available for checkout and (limited) for replacement available in EltH N211.
Key Points:
- Checkout (advanced or short-term): Contact Silke Moeller (smoeller@umn.edu) for availability, check-out arrangements, and assistance determining technology needs.
- Length: Determined based on need and availability of equipment
- Easy Returns: All equipment can be returned to Silke’s Office (N211 EltH) or the Central Office (N218 EltH) during business hours.
- Available Equipment: Dell Laptops, projectors, adapters, microphones, webcams, and more. See the Checkout Equipment List for what is available.

- Check the Checkout Equipment List to determine what items are available.
- Contact Silke Moeller with your request. Solutions for specific needs will be discussed.
CLA Loaner Computer
The CLA Laptop Loaner Program provides faculty, staff, and graduate students with access to laptops for short-term use. This service is designed to support your technology needs, whether for teaching, research, or administrative tasks.
Key Points:
- Duration: Laptops can be borrowed for up to 2 weeks.
- Pickup Locations: 640 Rarig, West Bank.
- Support: For any questions about your loaner, email clavideo@umn.edu.
Process:
- Navigate to LATIS Video Services
- Go to the WebCheckout Reservation System.
- Click on “New Reservation.”
- Select the checkout center “LATIS Faculty, Staff, & Grad Students - Loaner Laptops.”
Additional Information:
- Other items available in this center include DVD drives, HDMI cards, small projectors, and an Owl webcam.
- Unavailable items include chargers, monitors, or dongles
- The other center offers video production equipment like digital cameras, audio tech, lighting, etc.
