When using AI for University work:
- Use UMN-approved AI tools whenever possible.
- Do not enter restricted, highly restricted, confidential, or regulated data into AI tools.
- Review University guidance before using AI in teaching, research, or administrative work.
Protect Sensitive Data
Never Enter Sensitive University Data into AI Tools!
Do not enter the following information into AI systems unless explicitly permitted by University policy and approved platforms:
- Private Highly Restricted Data (High Risk)
- Health information and other regulated data
- Personally identifiable information (PII)
- Confidential research or participant data
When in doubt, do not upload or paste sensitive information into an AI tool.
