Teaching with Collaborative Writing

Working remotely, participants will use the 60-minute synchronous workshop to design a collaborative writing (CW) assignment based on their student learning objectives. Designed to help you develop or revise a CW project, the session shows you how just five dimensions of writing support learning objectives in courses across the curriculum and provide a foundation for instruction, course-specific writing, peer review, and assessment.

Come with student learning objectives and leave with a well-designed collaborative writing assignment.

Virtual Canvas Clinic

Get personalized help setting up your Canvas courses for the Fall 2021 semester from the comfort of your own home! The Canvas Clinic is an opportunity for faculty and instructors to get hands-on support and consultation as they work on Canvas course sites. Staff from Information Technology (IT), Library Services, TeachingSupport@UMN, and academic technologists from system campuses, will be on hand to help with start-of-semester tasks and course planning assistance. Topics include setting up course sites, creating activities and assessments, and integrating media or other course resources into Canvas.

This informal community is for anyone whose classes involve some students joining remotely while others join in person. As you navigate through your class week by week, work through the challenges and questions in front of you with input and guidance from peers and consultants. We'll meet weekly with nine meetings total – join us for as many or as few sessions as you wish. Feel free to bring your lunch!
