All faculty, staff, and students who handle University data are required under University policy to comply with the following data privacy and security practices.
Data Security Training
The Psychology Chair's office requires that all research staff including students and volunteers take the following two training courses available through UMN Training Hub:
- ISA101 - University Information Security Awareness Training
- HIP023 - HIPAA Training
Human Subject Training
If you work directly with human subjects, you may need to complete training in the Responsible Conduct of Research.
Student Record Training
What about data privacy for student information (grades, enrollment)? For anyone working with student information, a tutorial on FERPA should be completed: FERPA Training (ca. 15 min)
Additional Training
You may also be required to complete additional training. Refer to the Office of the Vice President’s (OVPR) website for more training information.
